Remembering Home (excerpt)
Summer days and nights will always find a building stoop, park bench, laughter, conversation, music, and sharing of food. These are the days and nights I remember growing up as a child. Mama, my siblings, and neighbors escaping hot apartments. Children playing, allowed to stay up long past our bedtime. Mama and her friends reminiscing and telling stories of their younger years before childen. The sweet laughter of neighborhood men, and their women falling in love with tem all over again. Looking back over time these are the stories and memories Mama and her friends poured into my life. Stories that grew me. The stories I wear now in my silver years.
